About

My name is Andrew Lightbody. I was born and raised in New York. I went to Washingtonville High School and graduated from Iona College(now University) in 2014 with a degree in advertising. Despite wanting to become the next Don Draper on Madison Ave, I have spent most of my life in the Hudson Valley. I never did make it to Madison Ave (besides a brief unpaid internship) because the truth is the advertising and marketing industry is a lot less glamorous than Mad Men.When I finally convinced someone to hire me at Hudson Valley Magazine as a Digital Marketing Manager I realized two things. 1.) I love helping local businesses in my area get customers and 2.) I need to specialize in a certain type of advertising if I ever wanted to increase my salary.Long story short I realized teaching myself how to run Facebook Ads was the best way to turn my advertising degree into something profitable. It turns out a lot of agencies need people who know how to do paid social and if I ever wanted to work with some of the fancier brands I showed you in my Work section then I needed to branch out from helping restaurants, doctors, dentists, landscapers, and other small businesses and leave home for a bit.I went coast to coast from NY to LA, spending millions of dollars of budget for brands like Lexus, Fireball, Freshpet and WeightWatchers. But the truth is, it's not all that fulfilling. I love the Hudson Valley and I believe there are too many businesses in this area getting ripped off by companies promising them leads, customers and expert digital marketing only to leave them high and dry.That is why I started Main Street Social. When it comes to social ads you don't need to invest thousands of dollars before you start seeing an return on investment.
